RECENT NEWS
We're excited to announce that we’ve received a $25,000 grant from a donor-advised fund at the Fairfield County Community Foundation. The grant funds are to be used for the purchase of a refrigerated truck so that we can make farm stands more widely available in Bridgeport. We’re looking closely at several qualified neighborhoods as potential farm stand sites. Keep checking back for new locations!
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Through vegetable stands in various Bridgeport neighborhoods, Wholesome Wave will strive to provide the city’s residents with affordable, healthy and convenient alternatives to conventional food shopping, while encouraging easy preparation of healthy, farm fresh foods at home.
Until September 8th 2009, customers shopping with WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program checks, Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program checks, or SNAP EBT cards (food stamps) were able to redeem their checks or food stamps for double their value in tokens. Funding is no longer available for this program, however customers may continue to use tokens they have already purchased, and can also continue to use their SNAP-EBT cards and Senior/WIC FMNP checks to purchase fruits and vegetables at any of the Park City Harvest farm stands.
